Leonel Alonzo Soriano, age 32, passed away at John Peter Smith Hospital on September 2nd, 2020. He was born in Los Angeles, California on January 27th, 1988. Leo has resided in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the past 15 years.
He is survived by his mother Vilma Gladis Soriano Sanchez, his father Leonel Soriano, Sr., his Sisters Karen and Samantha Lily Soriano and his beloved partner Glen Durant. Leo or Jr. as most people called him, was a thoughtful and warm man. He always prioritized his family and friends, investing his spare time and effort to look out for those he loved.
Jr. was a nerd’s nerd, intelligent, kind and blessed with an incredible sense of humor. He was an early adapter that could always be found with the latest technology, especially Apple products, or following the latest trends on social media. Leo loved going to see films with his family and friends, especially those from the Marvel, DC and Harry Potter fandoms. Leo enjoyed traveling and always sought to include his family and friends when he set out to explore the country. He was a thrill seeker that loved rollercoasters and amusement parks.
Jr. was a hard worker, employed at Narke Roofing and sheet metal for the past few years where he served as an HR representative.
Leo stood for the human rights of all people, especially LGBTQ+ rights and the BLM movement. He hoped to one day see the inclusion of everyone in this community as well as our society. He was an incredible son, brother, partner, friend, and all around incredible everything, that passed away far too soon. His family is heartbroken, but finds solace in the idea that “those who love us, never truly leave us” . Services will be held Thursday at Carrillo Funeral Homes – Grand Prairie with a visitation from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.
